Our dairy laboratory is one of the largest in North America.This top of the line facility processes 14 000 samples per day. We also provide the Federation with milk payment analysis (40 000 samples per month). Our reference laboratory provides calibration samples to dairy plants and other laboratories across Canada as well as in Brazil. Feed analysis are done with infrared technology, providing results in 24 hours. Milk analysis results are available to clients and field staff through the web, on average 48 hours after test day. In partnership with the other Canadian dairy herd improvement agencies, Valacta constantly improves its computer applications for dairy production analysis and management (Vision2000, the Agri-Lacta Suite, etc.).
Across Quebec and --since 2008-- the Atlantic Provinces, the Valacta team includes more than 220 field staff: over 100 technicians, 9 milk quality technicians, about 80 dairy production advisors, 7 strategic advisors and 6 regional managers. Technicians perform data entry, milking supervision, collect samples and offer other technical services. Milk quality technicians help producers improve milk quality through individual problem-solving, preventive work and group training. Advisors observe the herd, provide dairy planing services, analysis of reports and monthly recommendations to improve herd management and increase profitability. Strategic advisors give training sessions to Valacta clients ans employees and perform, upon request, specialised on farm examination, in-depth analysis, providing special reports and recommendations.
