Sylvia Lafontaine, agr., joined the Valacta R&D team in 1996 and is now Standards and Data Coordinator. A graduate in Animal Sciences from Macdonald Campus, Sylvia is an expert with the huge Vision2000 databank. She performs data mining and analysis for research and development purposes, for articles, training courses, as well as for the annual Évolution de la production laitière (Production Report). With her agrological background, Sylvia can bridge the gap between hard computer data and our field personnel’s need for extension. Sylvia is the Quebec representative on the Industry Standards Committee, which has the mandate to provide and enforce rigorous and coherent procedures to ensure data integrity and reliability for the benefit of the entire Canadian dairy industry.
