Changes to the Valacta Board of Directors to represent the Atlantic Provinces

Changements au conseil d'administration de Valacta pour représenter les provinces de l'Atlantique

Atlantic Canada is represented on the Valacta Board of Directors by a voting member and an observer, both dairy producers and Valacta customers in Atlantic Canada.

Last April, the Advisory Committee, which was created with the merger of Valacta and ADLIC to advise Valacta on the development of its activities in Atlantic Canada, appointed Mr. Denis Cyr, who was formerly observer on our Board since 2014, as voting director for the Atlantic region.

A voting process was then put into motion to fill the Observer position left vacant and Valacta clients had until May 17th to register their vote electronically.

Today, Valacta is very proud to announce that Mary Ellen Trueman was elected as Observer for the Atlantic Provinces on our Board of Directors.

Mary Ellen Trueman

She is an eight-generation dairy farmer in the Sackville region in New Brunswick. For the past 15 years, she has farmed together with her father and her brother under the partnership of Prospect Acres, where she has the herd management role for a 250 head herd of purebred Ayrshires. Several of her past board roles have included director and past chair for New Brunswick Young Farmer's Forum. Currently, she is serving her third year as director representing the Atlantic region on the Ayrshire Canada national board and was recently elected President of Ayrshire Canada. Mary Ellen has participated in the Future Leaders of the Dairy Industry Conference in 2018. “We have no doubt that Mary Ellen will bring tremendous value to our board” said Pierre Lampron, president of the Board.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. David Christie from Christie Farms Ltd. in Lynnfield, New Brunswick who had also submitted his name as a candidate for the Observer position.
