Available to all producers registered on milk recording, the Annual herd management report allows you to capture your herd's performance, at a glance, which allows you to measure the success of your business in a realistic and unbiased way. This annual and customizable report is an effective tool to help you set herd improvement goals.

So how does your herd rank?

The Annual herd management report displays, for each of the management areas, the results of the last three years and, when available, the percentile rank of the herd in relation to all Quebec herds. It also presents comparative statistics on the Quebec average and the performance of the top 20% of herds. Unless otherwise indicated, each parameter presents the 12-month average of your herd.

The management areas/parameters are presented in three sections:

  1. Production : includes production, milk quality and reproduction parameters.
  2. Herd demographics : includes parameters such as age, longevity and removal rate.
  3. Other measures : includes the 20 parameters that you will have chosen among more than 35 available parameters.

Customizable parameters

Whether you want to develop herd demographic information, obtain removal rate or details pertaining to reproductive performance, or evaluate your feed or economic data, simply choose the parameters that best reflect your current and future goals.

Customizable themed graphics

The Annual Herd Management Report vous also allows you to visualize your herd's performance through customizable themed graphs. You can explore themes such as culling, genetics and production by choosing six graphs from the fifteen available options.

  • Removal summary : Why do cows leave the herd? At what stage of lactation? Were they top producers? To better evaluate your herd's culling trends for the past year, choose the "Removal Summary" by Days in Milk (DIM) or BCAs.
  • Genetic index (type) : Available for Milk, Fat, Protein, LPI and Parity Conformation data, these distribution boxes display the genetic distribution of the animals in your herd on test day.
  • Production related graphs : You will be able to visualize your herd's production thanks to different graphs: Standardized Milk, Milk-Fat-Protein, Persistence, Milk-305 days and Milk-BCA or Milk at peak. Choose the option that best allows you to evaluate your progress and set your goals.

How to use it efficiently?

The Annual Herd Management Report allows you to identify your strengths and challenges quickly by analyzing your herd's performance in comparison with the provincial average and with the top 20% of herds for milk production.

It is the perfect tool to contribute to the success of your business as it allows you to set improvement goals for your herd. We recommend that you select two or three realistic and measurable goals for the year to establish your annual action plan. Your Lactanet advisor can guide you in this process. You will then be able to objectively monitor and measure the success of your action plan over the years, using comparative data from the last three years.
